Free Heliostat Plans: Part 1

                                                            Next Page

Here is a set of heliostat plans which is based off of the heliostat design that I am currently using. As of this writing, I have only just begun long term testing. I'll keep you posted on any revisions that might need to be made as time passes.

In any case, it is a pretty good starting point if you want to build one of your own.

If you have a new idea for how this heliostat might be improved or built differently, please feel free to share it by posting on the forums. Any questions you might have can also go on the forums.

Sketchup Model

The plans are basically just made from a combination of a Sketchup model and pictures from when I built my heliostat array.

The Sketchup model makes it easy to communicate what needs to be done because I can take screenshots of all of the various parts. The dimensions in the model should all be accurate to the real version, so, if I forgot something, just open up the model and measure whatever part I might have missed.

I uploaded it to the Sketchup 3D warehouse so you can download it by clicking the link below.

If you don't have Sketchup, don't worry because it is 100% free to download and install. It's pretty easy to use too.

Sun Tracker Program's Settings

If you build your heliostat following these plans exactly, you will also be able to use the same settings in the Sun Tracker program that I have in the screenshot below.
