Key Involute Gear

We will now take a look at Key Involute Gear. If you go back to draw on the menu bar and select Key Involute Gear, this window will pop up.

There are three new options that weren’t on the Involute Gear window  we looked at earlier. You can see in the picture below how each of these new options will change the gear.

Shaft Radius          A
Keyway Width      B
Keyway Depth      C

Exporting the Gear

Once you’ve created your gear, you can now export it to CamBam by using the Sketchup to CamBam Plugin.

Congratulations! You’ve just created a gear in Sketchup and successfully exported it. We will now move on to CamBam and turn the DXF file into G-code.

Hi, it would probably be worth mentioning that the gear is created as a ‘group’ and needs to be ‘exploded’ to expose the vertices for the export plugin.

Anyway – this is a very useful tutorial – thanks muchly.
