The Arduino Sun Harvester Shield is used to turn the ever popular Arduino Microcontroller into a platform for controlling various types of solar machines such as sun trackers and heliostats. This shield is even capable of controlling multiple machines when used in conjunction with the Sun Harvester Shield Breakout Board and multiple Sun Harvester Driver Boards.
Shield comes fully assembled and tested with Lithium Battery for RTC. Some soldering skills are required for connecting external circuitry to the shield.
Built in Features:
*Real Time Clock with battery backup.
*I/O Expander to extend the number of outputs for controlling multiple machines.
*Switch to activate manual control through the Serial Monitor.
*Switch to turn a heliostat into a sun tracker (useful for when first aligning the machine).
*Joystick for manual control of machines, especially useful when programming heliostat targets.
*Buttons for activating joystick controller and scrolling through multiple machines.
*Option to add XBee wireless using the XBee Adapter kit from Adafruit.com. (This is still in the early development stages)
*Labeled outputs for connecting stepper motor driver boards, limit / homing switches, wind protection mode switch, and target changer potentiometer.
